HATHOR NETWORK ROADMAP

Hathor is built for payment networks.

Tokenization is growing fast. Stablecoins led the way, and now stocks, bonds, funds and many other assets are moving on chain. Issuers, payment processors and banks want to settle them on a public network. Hathor Labs has built the technology they need and measured it on test networks around the world. At its center is the Hathor payments chain, a new chain built for payments that runs alongside the current Hathor chain. This page shows where we are and what comes next.

WHAT PAYMENT NETWORKS NEED

Payment networks need three things

Privacy

A payment reveals balances, prices and business partners, and a public ledger publishes all of it. Payment networks need that data kept private, while anyone can still audit the supply of every token.

Room for peaks

Volume arrives in peaks: paydays, holidays, a merchant’s busiest hour. The network has to absorb the peak without payments queueing or fees spiking.

Instant settlement

At the counter, a payment has to be final before the customer walks away. Nobody should wait for confirmations, and a final payment should never be reversed.

TWO TRACKS

We are building it in two tracks

TRACK 1

Scalability

A new way for validators to agree on payments, designed for payment traffic. In tests with 25 validators distributed across America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, it sustained over 100,000 confidential transactions a second, with every validator checking every transaction.

TRACK 2

Privacy

Five levels of confidentiality, chosen per payment. Every level is checked in full by every validator, and the supply of every token stays public.

ROADMAP

Two tracks. One mainnet.

Both tracks run in parallel. The payments chain is on a private testnet, while confidentiality is already on a public testnet. After testing and auditing, the tracks converge on one mainnet: the payments chain with privacy.

The payments chain goes live with scalability and privacy together. Validators earn their seats by staking HTR and receive transaction fees for confirming payments. You can move HTR from the current Hathor chain with the same keys and addresses.
